Research Background and Interests
I am a behavioral and organizational researcher in information systems. In my own work, I use a wide range of social science theories from psychology, sociology, economics, and anthropology to understand topics such as:

  • digital innovation and entrepreneurship
  • IT enabled inter-organizational collaboration
  • virtual teams, online communities, multiparty platforms
  • outsourcing, insourcing, crowdsourcing, and crowdfunding
  • management of emergent technologies for business and/or societal and political purposes.

I strive to push existing theoretical boundaries rather than just applying existing theory from another field or context. My field research ranges across a wide range of contexts of very large to small companies and non profit organizations, high tech and low tech, and advanced and emerging economies.

Methodological Interests

My research spans levels of analysis (individuals, teams, organizations, interorganizational, multi-party ecosystems) and strives to explore dynamics over time and contexts. I use both qualitative and quantitative methods including experiments, surveys, positivist case study methodology, grounded theory methodology, archival methods. My skill set does not include advanced forms of econometric modeling, simulation, or data mining.
