Term: July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2023

Research Interests:

I am interested in researching behaviors, individual outcomes, and collective outcomes associated with using information systems and digital technology within the domains of knowledge management, innovation and creativity, and coordination and organizing. My work contributes to theories such as technology affordances, communication as a constitutive of organizing, network theory, embeddedness, and sensemaking, and examines different contexts including online communities, social media, open-source projects, and healthcare IT.

I emphasize building and expanding our theoretical understanding of information systems and sociotechnical systems focusing on research questions where information systems play a prominent role. While I support phenomenon-driven research, I am less suited as an editor for phenomenon-driven studies that offer a little theoretical contribution or where technology only receives a nominal consideration.

Methods

I am open to a wide range of methods including empirical work with quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods analyses. This includes archival and trace data, case studies, experiments, and surveys among others. I am also interested in new methods that advance our capabilities of working with novel sources of data around digital phenomena.

While I can handle a fairly wide range of methods, I am less suited for highly interpretive qualitative papers and quantitative work where the contribution depends on an in-depth treatment of psychometrics, econometrics, experiments, or design science.
