Professor Viswanathan is an associate professor at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, and a co-director of the Center for Digital Innovation, Technology, and Strategy at the University of Maryland. His research focuses on the strategic and competitive impacts of digital technologies, in particular the implications of these emerging technologies for market segmentation, customization, and pricing across a number of verticals. His current work examines the economic impacts of a variety of online platforms and the value of social media, and online social networks for businesses. His research has been published in a number of top management journals and he is also a regular participant in international conferences and industry forums.
