Research Interests

My research interests span three areas. First, I am interested in investigating the innovation activities on digital platforms. I primarily take the perspective of platform operator and focus on governance mechanisms that foster innovation and contribution from various participants of platform ecosystems. Second, I examine value cocreation activities in the contexts of digital value chains. My research focuses on how emerging digital technologies shape the coordination and competition between firms in these contexts and the related governance issues. Third, I have been studying business value and various governance issues of employing information technologies (IT) in general, and how IT is related to the broad context of corporate governance.

Methodological Expertise

Methodologically, my research is primarily based on econometric analysis, including secondary data analysis and field experiments. Analytics methods (e.g., machine learning and unstructured data analysis) have also been becoming an integral part of my research.
